If tapping is new to you
Gentle tapping. A simple guide.
The audio walks you through the points. Use a light touch, move at your own pace, and skip any point that feels uncomfortable.
You can also leave tapping out and simply listen, breathe comfortably, or pray. There is no perfect way to begin.
What tapping actually is
EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques: gently tapping specific points while noticing what you are experiencing. At Selah, we pair tapping with Scripture and prayer. You are welcome to listen without tapping.
Points include the side of the hand, eyebrow, side of the eye, under the eye, under the nose, chin, collarbone, under the arm, and top of the head. Use gentle touch and skip any point that feels uncomfortable.
How faith fits in
Scripture is our source of truth. Jesus is the center. Tapping, breath, and stillness are tools that can help us make room to listen and respond.
We do not use a feeling in the body to decide what is true about God. We come back to what He has spoken, including when peace feels far away. A practice is an invitation to relationship, never a way to earn His nearness.
For a longer discussion of faith and tapping, read Tapping Into Truth.
What we mean by embodied faith
There is a difference between knowing something and becoming practiced in living from it.
You may know God is with me and still feel your body brace. Know I do not have to earn God’s love and still find yourself performing for approval. Know God can be trusted and still try to control the outcome.
Practicing embodied faith does not mean forcing your body to feel something it does not. It means gently inviting your whole self into the practice of what is true.
In Selah’s guided EFT tapping sessions, that may look like praying while tapping, taking a comfortable breath while reflecting on Scripture, or letting your shoulders drop as you remember: I am held.
It also belongs in ordinary life: opening your hands in surrender, noticing joy, and returning your attention to God. None of these practices make the truth true. They give us ways to live in response to it.
A few questions, answered
Is this self-help or nervous-system regulation?
Selah’s purpose is to help you practice returning to God, rather than achieve a particular state in your body. Gentle tapping, breath, and stillness can support that pause. They are tools; relationship with Jesus is the purpose.
You don’t have to lift yourself up by your own bootstraps or become calm enough to be loved. You are invited to come as you are. The tools help quiet the noise so we can return to the One who made us.
What is embodied faith/spirituality?
People have long practiced faith with their whole selves through singing, kneeling, stillness, prayer, and other embodied expressions.
The Embodied Selah Method™ is our accessible, guided way of bringing Scripture, prayer, reflection, and gentle practices together. This is Selah’s signature approach.
Do I need tapping experience?
No. The guided practices introduce you to it. You can also listen, pray, or be still without tapping. Pause or adapt whenever you need.
Do I have to feel calm for it to count?
No. Calm is not a measure of faith. The purpose is to practice turning toward God, including when you still feel anxious, sad, or uncomfortable.
What is free, and what will be paid?
Begin with Loved and Known by Jesus, a free guided meditation and companion PDF. Full Paths are coming soon, with planned pricing of $17–$27 each. They will be sold individually; a subscription is not required.
Is Selah only for difficult seasons?
No. You can bring pain or worry, and you can bring praise, joy, gratitude, and ordinary life. Nothing has to be wrong for you to take a Selah.
Can I read more about the faith behind this?
Yes. Explore Embodied Faith and the Embodied Selah Method™, read Maggie’s blog, or visit the resources whenever you want to go deeper.
